Avaris is a modern-fantasy setting within the Commonwealth of Sovereign States. It is distinguished by its complex geopolitical landscape, customised map, and longevity, having started in 2020, with some of the original participants still involved to this day. Avaris differs significantly from the real world in many aspects, most significantly language and religion. However, many parts of Avaris are directly inspired by real life and parallels can often be drawn between the two settings.
Avaris member states range in their relative stability, with some frequently experiencing social upheavals and armed conflict. The exploration of morally grey themes is a hallmark of many of its story-lines.
Geography
The continents on Avaris are North Usea, South Usea, Noskyavia, Estredena, Kanten and Tien-Chi.
These are themselves often divided into regions or sub-continents. The geography of Avaris is varied, changing dramatically from continent to continent and having variety even between different regions on the same continent.
